Cakes and cuddly cats
It was freezing cold this weekend - even the animals just got a quick, cursory clean out that didn't involve using water as all the water butts and the outside tap are frozen solid. Even the poo trays in the cube were frozen to the base! At least all the poop was frozen too, so it wasn't too hard to clean. -6 here this morning and very cold indeed - some of the snow that we had yesterday is left, and that had frozen solid when I went out to walk the pup. I suddenly remembered last night that I hadn't turned off the outside tap at the stop valve, so I was grubbing around behind the kitchen bin to turn it off before it starts to leak.
Rosie and I made some cakes on Sunday afternoon - to take into work for my birthday. well, I made them and she decorated them.. I noticed that the ones that she'd earmarked to keep at home (bottom picture) had more icing and decs on the top!
The pup has been going mad in the snow; racing around everywhere and snuffling in it. There's not much left now, mostly hard, frozen earth. I'd really like to be able to get out in the garden and do some work, but the ground is too hard now. I wanted to cut everything back in the autumn, but it was just too wet; so I am very behind now and bulbs are starting to sprout already.
Rosie is back at school today, and looking forward to it. She is in the school choir, and they have been asked to perform at the O2 Arena next summer in a charity festival, I can't remember the name of it, but will post the details nearer the time. What with that and a week-long school trip in March and a guide camp too, she has a lot to be thinking about.
This is love.. good news story of the day
